Musculoskeletal (MSK) Podiatry.

What is MSK Podiatry?...

In humans, the foot is one of the most complex structures in the body.  The foot contains 26 bones, 33 joints, and over 100 tendons, muscles, and ligaments it is designed to allow the foot to balance the body’s weight on just two legs and support mechanical actions such as running, jumping, climbing, and walking.

Feet can be especially prone to injury. Strains, sprains, tendonitis, torn ligaments, broken bones and fallen arches and a Podiatrist is trained to deal with those foot injuries when they happen.  Your Podiatrist will take a full medical history of your complaint, perform a non-weight and weight baring assessment, see you walking and assess footwear.

Once a diagnosis has been made a treatment plan is put into place, which may involve an exercise regime, taping, orthotics and laser therapy.  On occasion referral for an X-ray or ultrasound may be necessary, or referral to other specialists such as Orthopaedics and Physiotherapy
