What is a Podiatrist?...

Podiatrists are experts in foot, ankle and lower limb health. They have come a long way since our old 'Chiropodist' days with the advancement in Podiatric Medicine and surgery.  They can help to prevent, diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions including: ingrown toenails, fungal nail and skin problems.... But did you know we also are experts in lower limb Musculoskeletal problems, gait analysis and orthotic prescriptions helping those with heel and arch pain, balance issues and sprains? They can also treat foot problems that arise from underlying medical conditions such as diabetes and arthritis and specialise in wound care.

Some Podiatrists specialise in MSK, offering laser and shockwave therapy,  injection and manipulation therapies, while others specialise in Paediatrics, Geriatrics or Forensic Podiatry, some even become highly trained Podiatric Surgeons!  They have come a long way from being 'toenail cutters' so whatever your lower limb, foot and ankle problem talk to your Podiatrist they may know more than you think!
